From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
